Monday: “Oh no! It’s going to rain!”
Tuesday: “Yay! Now it says sun!”
Wednesday: ” Why oh why?! It says rain again.”
Thursday: “Oh my goodness, no rain!”
Friday: “Cloudy, I can do cloudy.”
Saturday “Ahhhhhhhhh (my version of a chorus of angels singing). Gorgeous sun.”
The week leading up to Rebekah and Stan’s wedding for me was filled with eager anticipation! I was so excited that their wedding day was finally here. I kept thinking back to how much fun we had at their engagement session (click here to see those!). However, I was also keeping a very close eye on the weather. In typical Sacramento fashion, the weather was deciding to play mind tricks with us all. As I met with Stan and Rebekah for their final consultation the week before they vowed to love and support each other forever, the subject of weather did inevitably surface. I was so impressed with Rebekah and her response. “It doesn’t matter what happens. I’m just excited to be getting married,” she said as she smiled over at Stan. Spoken like a true #KylieComptonBride. This wedding day truly was about joining two separate lives and making them one, forever. That is why when I woke up on Saturday and saw the sun shining bright through my window, I knew this day was going to be perfect.
One of my favorites parts of this wedding day was the blending of cultures. Stan moved to America from Moldova at a young age. He and his family have a strong love of Russian culture. They wanted to include that in their wedding day. The ceremony was given in English but was simultaneously translated into Russian, thank you to the amazing Andrey of The Andreys Events. I have always had a love of other languages so it was such a treat to witness this! Leading up to the day, I tried to learn how to say “Hello (Privet)” and “Nice to meet you (Rad tebya videt),” though I’m sure I completely butchered both. Thank you so much to all the family who was patient with my very beginner Russian!
Stan and Rebekah, you are truly amazing young couple who have perfectly shown that love and marriage are the true highlights of a wedding day. Beautiful flowers and details and all the extra stuff is really just that, extra. A wedding is about joining two separate lives and making them one. I am so excited for your life to start together. Have fun in Mexico and make sure to call me when you get back so we can make lunch plans and get a full #KylieComptonSandwich photo!
